Get a Library Card
A library card is the key to discovering the many resources and programs available to all residents of Allegheny County. Library cards are free to all residents and the initial application process can take place online for patrons over 18, or in person at the Northern Tier Library.
Apply in Person:
In order to apply for a library card in person you will need to fill out the application, present photo identification, in addition to proof of address.
Minors will need a parent/guardian to sign for them.
Residents outside of Allegheny County may also receive a free card if their home county library participates in Access PA.
Student Library Cards
Through a partnership with the Pine-Richland School District (PRSD) and the Allegheny County Library Association, Northern Tier Regional Library was able to assist in getting every PRSD student a public library card in 2023. Each year, we hope to get each new student in the area a library card as studies have shown that school students who use their library cards get better grades amongst other benefits. If your child is a PRSD student, they may just be getting a library card this year if they don’t have one already.
