Build a Better World is the theme for this year’s Adult Reading Club. Adults will be able to enter for prizes by reading books and attending programs. We will be offering adult programming every Thursday evening at 7:00 PM during the Summer Reading Club.

Thursday Night Programming

June 22: Knit a Better World; Part One
Knit Lit will participate in the summer reading club by knitting a scarf for the Red Scarf Project. The Red Scarf Project is a call to knitters and crocheters to create a homemade scarf to give to foster children who have aged out of the system and are on their way to college. We will go over the guidelines and hand out some pattern ideas. In addition, if you do not know how to knit but would like to learn, we can teach you! If you are new to Knit Lit, registration is appreciated.

June 29: Build a Trash Masterpiece
Learn how to make a book from recycled paper with Trash Origami. Registration is requested.

July 6: Build a Work of Art
Do you love to color? Create a work of art from adult coloring books provided by the library, or bring one of your own! Registration is requested.

July 13: Build a Better World with Books
When Polly’s business and romance both implode, she travels to the Cornish coast to regroup. Once there, her baking hobby takes on a life of its own. Add an adorable puffin, a handsome beekeeper, and a town of eccentrics, and you have a sweet treat of a book! Join Bridget’s Book Club to discuss Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan. Registration is optional.

July 20: Build with Recipes
Select your favorite recipe from a mystery novel and make it for our 5th annual Mystery Writers Cook Off. Registration is requested.

July 27: Knit a Better World; Part Two
Show off your finished scarf for the Red Scarf Project! If you are new to Knit Lit, registration is appreciated.

August 3: Build a Gratitude Journal
Turn junk into joy! We will show you how to transform everyday stuff into a gratitude journal. Registration is requested.
