Every week, we have plenty of opportunities for our youngest patrons to come in and discover new things at the library.  Take a look below for our lists of upcoming and regularly scheduled programs.

Youth Programming Schedule

Recurring Programs

FAMILY STORYTIME & PLAYTIME

Join us to share songs, rhymes, books, and a lot of movement! This program starts at 10:30 AM and are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Depending on the weather and the time of year, storytimes can be held inside on the main level or outside the library. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on, but it’s not strictly necessary for our indoor sessions. 

This program is for toddlers, preschoolers, and their families. Registration is required but only one registration is necessary for a series of story times even if you don’t plan to attend them all. A series of playtimes generally run for six consecutive weeks and registration information is primarily used to call in case of a cancellation. 

BABY STORYTIME

Come enjoy a half hour of fun with your baby! We’ll share songs, finger plays, stories, and rhymes. Meet other parents and their babies, and enjoy some special time together. This program is intended for babies ages 0-18 months and is held on Tuesdays in the program room on our main level.

Siblings are welcome and only one registration is required for a series of storytimes which usually run for six weeks at a time. 

PR Pokémon Club

Join other Pokémon trainers at the library for an hour of Pokémon fun! We encourage you to bring your game cards or handheld games in order to play together, swap, or exchange with others. (Trades must be approved by both parties’ adults to avoid misunderstandings.)

Boards will be available if you want to learn how to play the card game, and we encourage new fans to come and learn. A craft or Pokémon-related project will be offered as well. This event is self-directed and open to children, teens, and their families. Held on the first Monday of the month. Registration is required.

 

CHESS CLUB

Come to the library to practice your chess skills and play against other kids in the community. We will set up the program room with chess sets and tables for families to meet up and play a few rounds of chess in an informal setting. Bring any interesting exercises, openings, or moves you’d like to share with others.

Chess Club is held once a month.

STORYTIME @ PINE COMMUNITY CENTER

Join us at the Pine Community Center for a family storytime! Read some fun stories and enjoy an exciting craft.

This program is for families with toddlers and preschoolers (ages 2 to 6).

Nature-ology: Oceans – May 14, 2024

Tuesday May 14, 2024; 5:30 – 6:30 pm Oceans – When Life began, it started in the oceans.  But where did the water come from?  And what kind of crazy animals live there now?  Tony will show you several in this session of Nature-ology. Registration is required

Monday May 6 – 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Take Home Crafts – April 23 thru May 21, 2024

Tuesdays, April 23 – May 21 @ Library’s Lobby

Kids (and adults!) of all ages are invited to create and enjoy a simple, paper take-home craft! Please call or register online to reserve a weekly supply kit that can be picked up and enjoyed at home. This program will run from April 23 to May 21. Registration is required each week to account for supplies.
Make sure to pick up the kits you request; the pick-up space in our lobby gets crowded and our kits take time and resources.

Weekly STEAM Project – April 23 thru May 21, 2024

Tuesdays February 27 – April 9 @ Library’s Lobby

Welcome to The Weekly Project, a program featuring a variety of activities that can be enjoyed from home like cooking, crafting, art, and STEM. Each week will showcase a different project for children to do with their families, and will include take-home materials. This program will have a five-week session that runs from April 23 thru May 21; and is for kids of all ages. Registration is required each week to account for supplies.

May the Fourth Be With You – May 4, 2024

Saturday May 4, 2024; 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Punch it, Chewie! Jump to the library for a variety of crafts, activities, and all things Star Wars! Dress up in your favorite Star Wars gear and attend this galactic holiday event.

This program is for all ages; registration is required.

Remake Learning Days: Spruce Up Your Garden! Birdbaths, Bug Hotels & Blooming Plants – May 15, 2025

Wednesday May 15, 2024; 4:30 – 6:30 pm

Join us for a Remake Learning event at Norther Tier Library! The Seedling Team is pleased to introduce Backyard Ecosystems in a 30-minute interactive presentation for young gardeners on Wednesday, May 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Master Gardener Lee Bognar will share how ecosystems contain many types of life such as plants, insects, and animals; different types of ecosystems; and what to include when making your own backyard ecosystem!

Remake Learning projects at this program will include a mosaic decorated birdbath, building a bug hotel, and decorating a pot to start your seeds.

This event is for ages 5 and up.

Math For Girls – May 18, 2024

Saturday, May 18, 2024 – 9:30 am

Math for Girls is a free math competition for late elementary and middle school-aged girls dedicated to empower young women’s education and engagement in STEM. The competition will start at 9:30 AM. Any type of competitive math experience is NOT REQUIRED or EXPECTED! We encourage students of all levels and knowledge to participate.

Join us for an indoor story and playtime! We’ll share songs and rhymes, books and lots of movement. This program will start at 10:30 AM in the program room on our main level.

Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on, but it’s not necessary as we will be on a carpeted floor. This program is for toddlers, preschoolers, and their families.

A one-time registration is required for the series of five story times. We understand that you might not attend all programs. Both days feature the same content, Wednesday and Thursday storytimes are the same each week. A new theme is introduced each week.

Northern Tier Chess Club – April 22 & May 20, 2024

Special Baby Playtime: Welcome Baby! Library Bags – April 16, 2026

Tuesday April 16, 2025 – 11:00  – 11:30 am

Join the Northern Tier Library for a special celebration as we hand out our first ‘Welcome Baby!’ Library bags. Attendants will receive a free canvas bag with books, manipulatives, and toys to engage with their babies. 

We will have songs, rhymes, and playtime with fun activities. Some snacks and refreshments will be offered and each baby will go home with a new bag, and if parents wish to do so, open a brand new library card for their baby that day.

Registration is required, siblings welcome. This is for babies 0 to 18 months and their families.

Friendly Chess Tournament – April 13, 2024

Saturday April 13, 2024 – 10:00 am

Join us for a friendly chess tournament at Northern Tier Library. Competition will be held on two levels: the Junior Division for grades K-4, and the Senior Division for grades 5-8.

Pete The Cat Pizza Party – March 6, 2024

Wednesday March 6; 5:00 – 6:30 pm

Join us at the library for a Pete the Cat themed Pizza party. We will work on crafts, activities and we will make our own pizzas.

For children 6 and up. Registration is required. Registration will close on Monday, March 4.

Outdoor Egg Hunt – March 21, 2024

Thursday, March 21 – 5:00 pm

Join us at the library for an outdoor event in search for eggs. Bring your basket and comfortable shoes to walk around grass or wet surfaces. We will hide them around the library’s grounds. This event is weather permitting, in case of heavy rain we will try to meet the following day on Friday March 22 at 5:00 pm.
